Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) has shown its readiness to welcome Eid Al-Adha with a comprehensive work plan to manage the expected increase in the volume of waste during the holiday.
This comes as part of the Center’s efforts to provide the highest level of quality of services and ensure that work proceeds smoothly during the holiday according to the highest criteria and standards. The Center’s services include solid waste collection and transport, public cleaning, pest control, and impounding stray animals.
His Excellency Dr Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer), said: “The Center is constantly working to improve the services that it provides to the community of Abu Dhabi, which include waste collection and transport and pest control in all vital areas in the Emirate like Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain city, and Al Dhafra region. We ensure strengthening our efforts, especially during holidays to meet the expected increase in the demand for Tadweer’s services. To prepare for Eid Al-Adha, the Center has prepared a comprehensive work plan that addresses all the requirements of public sanitation, in order to preserve the Emirate’s public appearance and meet the requirements of the community.”
Waste collection and transport
During Eid Al-Adha, the Center will provide comprehensive municipal and solid waste collection and transport services. The Center will also provide public cleaning services such as manual and automatic sweeping on main roads, cleaning Eid prayer venues, increasing the number of waste containers in slaughterhouses, and improving public cleaning services for bridges and pedestrian tunnels. The Center will carry out concentrated daily cleaning campaigns in a number of primary sites including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, mosques and praying venues, slaughterhouses, parks, palaces, and marketplaces, including the ones that sell fish, meat, fruit, and vegetables. In order to provide the best services, Tadweer will deploy 248 additional sanitation workers, and provide 260 additional waste containers, in addition to providing more cleaning equipment and vehicles to ensure that all municipal and solid waste collection and transport services, as well as public sanitation services, are provided across the Emirate.
Pest control
In terms of pest control, the Center will provide a number of services before and during Eid Al-Adha, including monitoring all types of pests and providing scheduled pest control operations across the Emirate to deal with mosquitoes, flies, rodents, and roaches. The Center’s services will cover several sites in Abu Dhabi including 1,091 mosques, 20 slaughterhouses, 90 parks, 247 residential sites, and marketplaces that sell meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables.
The pest control services will be carried out by qualified teams consisting of 1,354 people, with 370 vehicles and 2,387 pieces of advanced equipment to ensure providing top-of-the-line services.
Emergency teams
The Center will provide emergency teams who will be responsible for receiving and carrying out collection and transport services requested by the public, companies, and government agencies, while other teams will address pest control services requested by the public.
Monitoring stray animal
The services provided by the Center during Eid Al-Adha include monitoring stray animals like cats and dogs in Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra. The animals will be handled according to standard procedure and then sent to Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital to receive proper care.
