ASGC carries out deep cleaning, sterilisation at labour camps

Dubai-based construction contractor ASGC has adopted preventive measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at its labour camps, project sites, and head office.

Speaking about the preventive measures, ASGC’s HSE director, David Robinson, said that the company deployed a Dubai Municipality (DM) approved contractor to carry out deep cleaning and sterilisation at its labour camps. “This has been then followed up with our own teams of cleaners increasing the normal cleaning regime and using the recommended cleaning fluids to ensure continued sterilisation,” Robinson added.

ASGC provided hand sanitisers and antibacterial soaps at the camps and modified some of the usual activities, including restricting visitors, and large sports events, mass meetings, and celebrations that it organises at the camps. The project sites have also carried out cleaning activities and have been monitoring staff and subcontractors’ health. The company is using video conferencing tools and reduced meetings to bare essential.

Meanwhile, at its headquarters the company has stopped biometric loggins and has split each department across three offices, with zero movement between these offices.

“All ASGC locations, camps sites, and offices have dedicated HSE notice boards where relevant information is displayed in multilingual formats this has been supplemented by information sheets being placed in every room on accommodation camps and interactive discussion with camp nurses,” Robinson continued. The company is also working at producing a multi-lingual video on health and hygiene tips that will be shown at “the accommodation camps in the dining areas and reception”.
