Dubai Airports awards Emrill six-year FM-cleaning services contract

UAE-based facilities management company, Emrill, has been awarded a six-year contract by Dubai Airports, where Emrill will deploy over 1,000 cleaning staff at Dubai International (DXB) Terminal 3, concourses A, B and C.

Mobilisation of concourse A will commence on March 1, 2020, with services effective from April 1, 2020. Services in concourses B and C will commence on June 1, 2020. The scope of work remains unchanged from the previous contract and will see Emrill staff carrying out cleaning and janitorial services across Terminal 3 and concourses A, B and C.

Dedicated teams will be assigned to passenger loading bridges, boarding gates, washrooms and public areas. Emrill will also carry out high-level and escalator cleaning, using new equipment offering enhanced cleaning capabilities.

Emrill’s general manager, David Nice, said, “We are delighted to continue the excellent partnership we have developed with Dubai Airports since 2015. The fact we have retained the existing contracts, plus the additional concourse A element, has meant growth as well as retention, both of which are vital to Emrill as a business and provide further opportunities for our fantastic staff to grow with us."

“We have worked very hard in bringing the latest technology, efficiencies and sustainable practices in order to secure this contract and look forward to supporting our client with world-class standards, making an impression on the millions of passengers who use DXB every year.”

Emrill has worked with Dubai Airports for four years and has received a number of awards and accolades during its time there, including achieving one million safe manhours in 2017. Emrill will continue to invest in new technology to drive efficiency. The facilities management provider will also introduce a new app onsite, which will enable users to access product data sheets, cleaning recommendations and a consumption calculator from their mobile devices.

Commenting on the contract renewal, Dorothee Stein, Head of Facility Care at Dubai Airports said, “With 89 million passengers in 2018, DXB is the world’s busiest travel hub and is the first, last and sometimes the only impression visitors have of the emirates. Our association with Emrill goes back to 2015 and, based on their service standards over these years, we are pleased to continue our partnership with them as the cleaning services provider for Terminal 3 and its three concourses, which together welcome more than half the total annual traffic through DXB.”

In 2018, Emrill developed its dedicated DXB Airport T3 airside training facilities, which provides a consistent, systematic approach to maintaining world-class standards while delivering stakeholder-value and ensuring a safe, effective environment. Emrill cleaning staff have access to a fully-equipped classroom, mock-up housekeeping scenarios and authentic airport environments, enabling Emrill to bring BICSc, the highest internationally-benchmarked housekeeping standards, to the UAE aviation industry.
