Smart Built Environment Awards 2022: Highlights
 

The winners of the second edition of the Smart Built Environment Awards were announced on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dubai. The SBE Awards honoured the best performers across 22 categories recognising credible performance and exceptional growth in the past 12 months in the UAE’s built environment. Presented by the Community Management Today magazine, the Smart Built Environment Awards are a celebration of success in the Community Management, Facilities Management, Property Management, Real Estate, and PropTech sectors. 

The awards provide a benchmark for performance, industry recognition and professional credibility, all of which act as drivers for growth of the built world industry in the region. 

Taher Patrawala, CEO, Media Fusion, organizers of the Smart Built Environment (SBE) Awards, said, "These awards represent the gold standard of excellence and I congratulate all the winners of the second edition of the SBE awards. This programme offered companies the opportunity to compete on a fair platform and present their accomplishments over the past year. The winners were truly deserving and we hope to expand the scope of the awards in the coming years to ensure that they are more representative of the diverse talent that our industry has to offer." 

The awards ceremony was a grand success with over 200 industry professionals attending the event. The evening started with a high-profile networking session accompanied with live music, followed by the glittering awards function. Delivering the welcome address, Marisha Singh, Editor, CMtoday magazine said, “In its second edition, the Smart Built Environment Awards this year received a record number of nominations across different categories and brought together all the major players in the industry. The Awards aim to highlight the extraordinary talent, innovation and commitment demonstrated by companies and their leaders in the built environment space. The awards also celebrate unsung heroes who act as a beacon of excellence as they take the management of the built environment to new heights.”

The entries were evaluated by a grand jury panel of eminent international professionals from the industry. Dr Anas Bataw, Director, Centre of Excellence in Smart Construction, Anuj Puri, Chairman, Anarock, Ali Al Suwaidi, Vice President & Global FM Vice Chair, MEFMA, Ben Walker, Head of Project & Building Consultancy, Knight Frank, Fadi Nwilati, CEO, Kaizen Asset Management, Hawazen Esber, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim – Communities, Jason Ruehland, CEO, Muheel, Kirk Watilo, Instructor for Community Associations Institute, Lynnette Sacchetto, Director - Data & Digital Transformation, Allsopp & Allsopp, Paul Bagust, Head of Property Standards Director, RICS formed the panel of jury members who dedicated time and applied objective judgement to decide on the winners.

Ahmed Kandil, Chief Executive Officer, Jumeirah Luxury Living said, “I would like to thank the CMtoday magazine and the organizers of this award for the prestigious gathering today evening. We have all the market leaders from different categories, FM, PropTech, Property Development and others, and I was honoured to present the Best Developer of the Year award as developers are the ultimate clients to all those present here this evening.”

Francis Giani, Chief Community Management Officer, Nakheel spoke about winning the Community Management Company of the Year award. He said, “We are very proud to win this award as it reflects the transformation of the last two years at Nakheel. We excelled because we focused on being customer-centric, community-focused, and technology-driven.”

Tarek Al Assil, Executive Director - Commercial of Ejadah, spoke at the close of the awards night. He said, “We are very happy to be here and support the Smart Built Environment Awards. We had leaders from many sectors, and it was a very competitive and exciting night. We are also very happy to take home the Customer Happiness Award.” 

Overall, 46 winners and runner-up prizes were presented across 22 award categories. The second edition of the awards received nominations from key industry names and projects, among others.
