Transition into smart cities

Dubai is already reaping the benefits of if its first ICT strategy which began in 1999 with the launch of Dubai Internet City, Dubai e-government, Dubai Smart Government and in 2014, the Smart Dubai initiative. Implementation of new technologies has ensured happy city experiences for residents and visitors which is the main objective of the government in its vision to become the happiest city on Earth.

Moreover, Dubai has rightly focused on the development of energy efficiency initiatives and regulations, air quality measures and the development of leading public transportation systems to insure management of issues related to rising environmental pressures and increased mobility needs.

As a global leader in providing low carbon services, ENGIE Cofely offers a comprehensive range of clean mobility solutions that transforms the way energy is used. It has developed various technologies and a systems-based approach that combines its skills and expertise in alternative fuels, transport infrastructures, smart transit systems, and upstream design and planning, to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, keep traffic flowing and optimize transit networks.

ENGIE’s smart city Livin’ platform for example, supports cities to better model, understand, integrate and manage their infrastructure systems. The platform helps steer the infrastructure by allowing operators to interact with connected infrastructure. This is done by operating services in real-time, planning long-term and multiinfrastructure scenarios, creating value from data aggregation and cross-referencing between verticals and finally, providing proof for KPI’s to measure and address complex urban issues. This is done by intervening in the event of an accident, automating certain actions to save budget and time for operators, as well as coordinating actions so that their impacts are complementary.

Using smart interactive software platforms like ENGIE Livin’ will further spearhead the growth of Dubai as a globally competitive city that embraces smart technology for the happiness of its residents.
