Gautam Sashittal, the CEO of the company overseeing the development and management of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), has stepped down from his role. Mohammed Alsudairy, an investment manager at the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has been appointed as acting CEO until a permanent replacement is named.
No official reason was provided for the leadership transition. However, a spokesperson for KAFD Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC) confirmed that Sashittal will continue in an advisory capacity.
Sashittal, who joined KAFD DMC as CEO in June 2021, has played a pivotal role in steering the project towards its activation phase. Earlier this year, he revealed that 2024 would mark a significant milestone for KAFD, with around 50% of the district’s 95 buildings completed as of March.
Reflecting on his tenure, Sashittal penned a heartfelt farewell, describing his time at KAFD as an "incredible journey" over the past three and a half years. In a statement, he expressed pride in transforming the district from a development site into a dynamic hub for business and lifestyle, as well as a globally recognised brand.
“KAFD is extremely well-positioned for the future, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030,” Sashittal noted. He credited the district’s progress to the unwavering support of KAFD’s talented team, partners, tenants, and stakeholders, as well as the country’s leadership.
KAFD, launched in 2007, became a PIF asset in 2016 following its transfer from the Public Pensions Agency. Sashittal’s departure marks the end of a transformative chapter for the district, which aims to cement its position as a leading financial and lifestyle destination in the region.
Looking ahead, Sashittal hinted at new opportunities on the horizon, stating, “A new journey beckons, a new chapter unfolds.”
