Though currently voluntary, the policy will be backed by initiatives to encourage adoption by investors and developers in due course – there is no doubt that smart buildings represent the sustainable future of the built environment.

The integration of smart home systems brings significant opportunities to reduce consumption: through voice instructions or mobile applications, residents can manage lighting, cooling, and other systems to ensure resources are only used when needed. By reimagining traditional systems and integrating innovative, passive cooling methods, it is possible to reduce a building's carbon footprint and enhance long-term environmental performance.
