Serco Middle East appoints new HR Director

Bringing over 16 years of multinational experience to the role, Hana’s appointment follows her one year tenure as regional HR business partner for the company, where she consistently demonstrated high performance and deep understanding of Serco’s core values and culture as she led HR teams across Serco in the UAE, KSA and Iraq.

During this time, Hana and her team focused on laying the foundation for compliance and governance within the organisation. In addition, talent acquisition campaigns were also a focus for her in alignment with many other Serco divisions globally. Hana has also invested in building relationships with clients, external stakeholders and government officials to facilitate and enable Serco’s growth and commitment towards nationalisation.

In her new role, Hana will be responsible for leading Serco Middle East’s nationalisation agenda, a key part of the company’s strategy.  She will also focus on diversity and inclusion efforts, and developing Serco’s organisation and leadership capabilities across the region.

Commenting on her appointment, Hana said, “I was drawn to Serco because of its primary focus on its people, values and its ‘culture first’ mentality. This was a new fast-paced industry for me when I first started, and I’ve been able to use my former experience both in the region and wider to help support the business to achieve its goals. At Serco, our people are our life-blood, and managing and nurturing our greatest asset is what enables us to continue to grow and innovate. I’m thrilled to be starting my new role as HR Director and to have the opportunity to lead and drive positive change across the business.”

Phil Malem, CEO of Serco Middle East, added, “Hana is a true business partner who is passionate about people, continuous improvement and creating the right culture through our values of Trust, Pride, Care and Innovation. I’d like to congratulate Hana on her well-deserved promotion to HR Director; this is testament to her ambition and drive, and people-focused attitude, and we’re looking forward to supporting her as she continues to drive excellence across the business.”

In Hana’s new role, she will report directly to Serco Middle East CEO Phil Malem and be a crucial part of the Serco Middle East executive management team. Her predecessor, former Serco Middle East HR Director Rebecca Jeffs, has accepted a UK-based position as Serco Group’s Colleague Experience Director. The promotions of both Hana and Rebecca are a testament to Serco’s initiatives to encourage internal mobility and foster the professional growth of its employees.
