ENGIE Refrigeration has announced the launch of its new SPECTRUM Water chiller which will hit the international market on Monday, 10 October 2022. Its oil-free, high-lift turbo compressor, sustainable refrigerant R-1234ze and a rated refrigeration capacity of 170 to 1,100 kilowatts with chilled medium outlet temperatures reaching -10 degrees Celsius make this water-cooled brine cooler unique in its capacity range. The cooling and heating specialist from Lindau on Lake Constance will present this innovative model for the first time at the Chillventa trade fair, which will take place in Nuremberg from 11 to 13 October 2022.
According to ENGIE, the SPECTRUM water chiller will be available for order in six basic models. The chiller is powered with technology based on the QUANTUM Water chiller – which is currently the most efficient water-cooled chiller series on the market and a poster child for ENGIE Refrigeration. Its oil-free machine design makes the water-cooled brine cooler unique in its capacity range and provides a key additional benefit to users, who benefit from lower maintenance costs and simultaneously protect the environment.
Jochen Hornung, CEO of ENGIE Refrigeration, says: ‘We at ENGIE Refrigeration want to offer our customers cooling and heating solutions that are ahead of their time. This is reflected in our product portfolio, which meets the highest economic and ecological requirements and prepares users for the future. The new SPECTRUM Water chiller is a perfect addition to this portfolio. With its oil-free high-lift turbo compressor, the product is unique in its performance class.’
As per a press release, the model offers a rated cooling capacity range of 170 to 1,100 kilowatts with chilled medium outlet temperatures of down to -10 degrees Celsius. And the chiller runs on the low-GWP refrigerant R-1234ze, which is rated as sustainable in terms of the F-gas Regulation; alternatively, it is available with the highly efficient and non-flammable A1 safety refrigerant R-515B. In addition, the SPECTRUM Water features a Siemens S7 PLC as its central control instrument and an accurate PID controller for top control quality. It has oil-free turbo compressors with magnetic bearings, flooded tube bundle heat exchangers, and an open-flash economizer integrated as standard, all of which contribute to excellent efficiency values in cooling mode. The company says that users can operate the SPECTRUM Water as a brine/water heat pump. It can be used, for example in combination with ice storage systems, near-surface geothermal energy or air-pressurised hybrid coolers as a heat source. In this case, the machine produces rated thermal outputs of between 170 and 1,060 kilowatts at cooling medium temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius, which makes it perfect for all types of low-temperature comfort heating applications.
