Fugro Showcases Innovation in Geotechnics

Fugro, the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, ushered in a new era of geotechnical innovation as the main geotechnical sponsor of the second International Geotechnical Innovation Conference (IGIC) 2025, which was held on May 5 and 6 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Organized under the theme “Shaping the World Beneath: Fostering Sustainability, Innovation and Resilience in Geotechnics,” the conference convened global experts to explore new frontiers in geotechnical engineering and infrastructure development.

At IGIC 2025, Fugro introduced its GroundIQ™ approach—a revolutionary solution offering comprehensive ground investigation and monitoring capabilities. GroundIQ™ combined Fugro’s advanced geotechnical expertise with cutting-edge technologies to reduce uncertainties about subsurface conditions, helping clients make informed decisions, mitigate project risks, and prevent costly overruns from the earliest planning stages.

As Saudi Arabia continued to accelerate its ambitious Vision 2030 agenda, sustainable and resilient infrastructure remained crucial to the Kingdom’s future. Fugro’s solutions supported the entire lifecycle of essential projects—bridges, buildings, stadiums, roads, tunnels, and coastal developments—ensuring long-term performance and sustainability.

Jürgen Fitschen, Country Manager for Land in Saudi Arabia for Fugro, remarked, “We were honored to participate in the second IGIC event as Saudi Arabia embarked on its transformative journey. Blending tradition with innovation and sustainability, this vision created significant opportunities for advancing infrastructure that is both resilient and forward-looking.”

Through its involvement at IGIC 2025, Fugro engaged with key stakeholders to demonstrate how geotechnical innovation can drive resilient and sustainable development across the Kingdom. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting not only infrastructure expansion but also economic growth and stability in Saudi Arabia and other emerging markets.
